I started Gîte Lab because I’ve spent the better part of fifteen years helping holiday rental businesses across France do better — and I got tired of watching great properties undersell themselves.

Since 2009 I’ve worked with owners of properties of all kinds, from intimate chambres d’hôtes to sprawling château estates, and I’ve built up a pretty clear picture of what works, what doesn’t, and where most owners are leaving money on the table.

Before moving to France I have rented properties and been involved with the hospitality sector in the UK.  This is why we are now operating in the UK; the challenges we’ve seen in France are equally as relevant across the Channel.

My wife and I run our own gîte, Les Papillons, and we’re proud to have high occupancy year after year — not through luck, but through the same principles I now bring to every client I work with. 

If I’m honest, what really lit the fire under Gîte Lab was watching the big booking platforms tighten their grip on independent owners year after year. Commission rates creep up, algorithms favour the properties that pay to play, and meanwhile the cost of running a holiday rental keeps rising.
